As special mindful travel spot of the week we want to introduce Crete -
The ancient greek island is a sustainer of greek traditions that go back thousands of years. We tested one resort that specializes on sustainability and is almost independent due to local food, supplies, staff and the wonderful ancient stone houses that endure anything.
At Enagron Ecotourism Village one can taste wonderful traditional and regional cuisine, take cooking classes from Aphrodite (yeah, that is really the name of the main chef who is wonderful), explore the natural valley with donkeys and taste the fresh oranges and figues that are growing everywhere. You can also swim in the sustainable infinity pool looking down at the valley, go to the local spa or take a trip to antique Knossos, the sea in the north or the hippie spots in the south. By arrival on the island you can already feel the slow living culture and the lush nature is just marvellous to look at. But make sure to not travel in the hottest season (July/August), cause then the heat could get very exhausting.
