Let the sun into your heart in Biarritz/French Basque Country

Some may wonder what a psychological practice for trauma healing and mindfulness has to do with traveling. We at followyoursun are experts in connecting the greatest abysses and shadow issues with the greatest potential and bright sides. Even if you have been through the worst hell yourself, there comes a point in life when you understand why this has happened to you and what mission for the world lies behind it.

Even as children, it was a mystery to us highly sensitive beings why people can feel so much hatred and inflict so much suffering on each other. As an empath, it is almost impossible to feel hatred towards other people or to want to do something bad to someone. Through many painful experiences, we have had to experience how many hateful people on this planet inflict suffering on others and how important it is to develop the right strategies for self-protection. Attacks from others - whether physical, emotional or mental - cause damage and can accumulate over the course of a lifetime to the point where serious illnesses arise, the so-called trauma consequences in the context of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) or CPTSD (complex post-traumatic stress disorder). These are closely linked to almost all physical illnesses (cancer, autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular diseases, chronic pain disorders, etc.) and should always be treated holistically from a medical and psychological perspective. This is exactly what our most read book deals with: "From Shadow Child to Sun Child". The interest in our trauma therapy approaches has been so great in the last 5 years since the first publication that we have written a follow-up ("From the greatest shadow arises the greatest light." on the role of narcissistic abuse in the consequences of trauma) and have now reissued the first publication, with some changes to reflect the corona pandemic and global trauma consequences:

The book also describes that the last phase of trauma therapy is the unfolding of one's own potential and the return of the true self that was buried by the consequences of trauma. In this phase, everything is allowed, including dreaming big. And our dream has always been to run a global organization to spread mindfulness and trauma healing and to combine this with our passion for travel.

Which brings us back to our place of the week: Biarritz in the South of France on the Atlantic coast is called the City of Kings (due to its rich and famous past as a beach resort for stars and royals) and the cliffs tower just as majestically over the beautiful Miramar, which is smaller and more charming than the Grand Plage. Even though it is not a hidden gem, a visit is extremely worthwhile, especially combined with Bayonne and the French Basque Country. The Rocher de la Vierge offers spectacular views in the middle of the Atlantic - the Virgin Rock with the Madonna and Child in the middle of the sea can be reached via a bridge. There are also some very beautiful coastal walks from there.

Another very impressive beach is the city beach of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, which is wild and, as the name suggests, also lets the sun rise in your heart. The municipal capital, Bayonne, is known for its delicious chocolate and in the interior of the Basque Country - especially in the direction of the Pyrenees - you can still find lonely areas, especially for hikers (the Camino de Santiago also runs here towards Spain).
